HYGIENIC PROCESS FILTRATION

Physical Particle Filtration Inside the Process Line

The stainless-steel screen retains unwanted solid particles while the process liquid continues through the pipeline.

Filter location and mesh selection should be coordinated with the actual liquid, solids load, required process flow and the downstream equipment being protected.

TYPICAL PROCESS FUNCTION Process Liquid → Mesh Screen → Downstream Equipment
SELECT THE RIGHT FILTRATION TECHNOLOGY

Mesh Filter or Cartridge Filter Housing?

Both can be called sanitary filters, but they perform different filtration functions.

DIFFERENT FILTER TECHNOLOGY

Cartridge / Membrane Filter Housing

Uses replaceable filter cartridges or membrane elements for different filtration duties.

Different filtration element Different retention specification Different housing design Specify separately if required
FILTER CONFIGURATIONS

Angle, Inline, Y Strainer or Duplex?

01

Angle Filter

Consider where an angled body geometry suits pipeline routing and screen access.

02

Inline Filter

Suitable where inlet and outlet alignment supports a straight process route.

03

Y Strainer

Positions the filtration chamber at an angle to the main process line.

04

Duplex Filter

Can be evaluated where additional operating or maintenance flexibility is required.

10–200 MESH

How to Select the Filter Mesh

The finest available screen is not automatically the best choice for every liquid process.

Particle Requirement

Define what solids need to be retained from the process liquid.

Process Fluid

Consider viscosity and how easily the product passes through the screen.

Solids Loading

Higher solids loading can increase screen-cleaning frequency.

Required Flow

The filter should support the production duty without unnecessary restriction.

Allowable Pressure Drop

Finer filtration and screen loading can increase resistance.

Cleaning Frequency

Select a practical filtration level for the actual operating cycle.

Mesh count alone is not an exact micron specification.

If particle opening is critical, confirm the actual screen opening for the selected mesh construction.

MATERIAL SELECTION

SS304 or SS316L?

SS304

Suitable Hygienic Applications

Can be selected where the process fluid, cleaning chemicals and operating conditions are compatible with the material.

SS316L

Additional Corrosion Resistance

Can be selected where process chemistry or cleaning conditions require additional corrosion resistance.

Final material selection should consider the process liquid, cleaning chemistry, temperature and corrosion conditions.
PIPELINE INTEGRATION

Choose the Connection Around the Process Line

01

Welded

For suitable permanent stainless-steel process-line integration.

02

Clamped

Useful where quick removal and cleaning access are required.

03

Union

Available for compatible removable process-piping arrangements.

04

Flange

Available where surrounding equipment uses compatible flanged connections.

3A DIN SMS ISO

These identify available connection and dimensional configurations. They are not certification claims.

FAQ

Sanitary Stainless Steel Filter FAQ

What sizes are available for ShababTec sanitary filters?

The documented filter range covers DN25–DN100, corresponding to nominal line sizes from 1 to 4 inches.

Are SS304 and SS316L filters available?

Yes. ShababTec's documented sanitary filter range includes both SS304 and SS316L material options.

What mesh sizes are available?

The documented stainless-steel screen range is 10–200 mesh. Final mesh should be selected according to the required particle retention and process conditions.

Is mesh the same as micron?

No. Mesh count identifies screen construction, while the actual opening also depends on wire diameter. Where a precise particle opening is required, confirm the actual screen opening.

What connection types are available?

The current ShababTec technical range includes welded, clamped, union and flange connection options.

Which connection standards are available?

The technical information lists 3A, DIN, SMS and ISO connection and dimensional options. Final compatibility should be confirmed against the project pipeline.

Is this a cartridge filter housing?

The product documented on this page is a stainless-steel mesh filter or strainer using a 10–200 mesh screen range. Cartridge and membrane filter housings use a different filtration technology.

What sanitary filter configurations are available?

The technical product information includes angle filters, inline filters, Y strainers and duplex filter configurations.

Can the filter be integrated with CIP/SIP systems?

Where the filter operates inside a CIP or SIP circuit, the cleaning conditions and required equipment configuration should be defined during project engineering. CIP/SIP compatibility should not be assumed without reviewing the selected filter.

What warranty is available?

The current ShababTec sanitary stainless-steel filter information includes a one-year warranty.
